ArtPlacer’s Augmented Reality (AR) Technology lets collectors and visitors visualize Artworks directly in their own space, without downloading an app.
By allowing viewers to see how a piece fits in their environment, AR removes collector hesitation, builds confidence, and leads to more sales.
With our latest update, this process is now seamless across both mobile and desktop devices. Visitors can simply tap or scan to experience your Artwork at real scale in their surroundings.
What Is the AR Widget?
The AR Widget is a feature available in Virtual Exhibitions that enables visitors to view artworks in Augmented Reality.
It works by displaying a 3D version of the selected Artwork, which users can then place virtually in their own environment through their phone’s camera.
Key Benefits:
- No app download required
- Works on both iOS and Android
- Accessible from desktop and mobile
- Displays artworks at real scale
- Helps collectors make confident purchasing decisions

- They select an Artwork they’d like to view.
Step 2: Access the AR Option

- Tap View in AR to activate the phone’s camera and begin the placement process.
Using AR from a Mobile Device.
- Tap the Augmented Reality button directly.
- The AR experience opens immediately in the browser.
- Once the 3D preview loads, tap View in AR.
Your phone’s camera will activate and guide you through the placement steps.
Scanning and Placing the Artwork:

- The system detects flat surfaces (like walls or floors) to understand depth and scale.
- Once scanning is complete, the artwork appears in real scale within the user’s environment.

Visitors can:

- View it from different angles.
- Zoom in to explore details, just like it’s already displayed in their space.
